The potential of additive manufacturing technologies applied in photonics and optoelectronics is enormous, and the field is still in its infancy. 3D printing technologies are opening new routes for photonics and optoelectronics, which include optical sensors, optical waveguides, mirrors, lenses, photonic crystals, metamaterials and micro‐optical components, avoiding the complicated, time consuming and costly production processes of injection molding, machining, polishing and grinding.
